Ok I will add this one to the list as well, our comic shop made months ago. Ben Skywalker Jedi Apprentice. Dark Side Comics in Sarasota, FL...gotta throw that one out there.
Ben Skywalker, Jedi Apprentice (NR) Cost 21
HP 70 Def 18 Att 11 Dmg 20
Unique, Melee, Double Attack Stealth Affinity (A character whose name contains or is considered as Mara Jade may be in your squad regardless of faction)
Force Power (Force 3) Force Push 2 Lightsaber Sweep 1
"Closely guided by his mentor and childhood hero, Jacen, Ben began to gain confidence in his use of the force."
Thoughts?

There are sort of two different iterations of Ben, so I guess we need to figure out of we want to do LotF Ben (who is largely Caedus's apprentice and has a solid military bearing) or FotJ Ben (who is a Force dabbler following is dad from tradition to tradition.
Either way, I'd say we should consider Force Cloak (a trick he learns from Jacen).
I think his basic stats should be comparable to Anakin Solo or the original Ahsoka (these are the characters he seems to most closely match in role and experience).
What you have is not a bad start, but other than the Affinity (more on that in a sec), there's not a really hook. I'm not saying he needs to be a powerhouse, but to be useful, he should stand out in some way in the New Republic (which has a wealth of quality Jedi).
I'd say drop the Affinity. It currently serves only to bring in the Imperial versions of Mara, and once she becomes a Jedi and has Ben, she's not really that gun-toting version of herself any more. Mara with Blaster Barrage doesn't really "belong" in the New Republic.

He seems quite weak at present. But I guess that's what he gets for only 21 points. Like GWEk said, we can choose from either of the two incarnations. Personally, I think the military-esque Ben would be more fun to make.
I'm thinking an Impulsive ability would fit on him...

I was thinking young Ben, with only a few force powers, nothing crazy at all. He was quite shy from the force for a very long time. Maybe he could only have Force Cloak if on a squad with Jacen Solo, that might make it fun. Yea when we made this Ben months ago I am not sure if we even had time to playtest him at that point, but having a blaster crazy Mara/Breanna wouldn't really make sense to make him canon.

So we have to come to an agreement. Is this young Ben or teenage Ben?

Hmm, well either way hes not very strong in the force overall. He learns a bit from Jacen but after that realizes the dark side in him and thats about it for Ben. We definately dont need a healer thats for sure. We have made an awesome Tekli at our shop, mini and card are done, just look for her on the Wizards forum. Anyway, perhaps we should make the Ben right before he sees the dark side in Jacen, that way he has learned all of his knowledge from Jacen and is somewhat skilled.

So do we want to agree that we're going to try for LotF Ben late in his service to Jacen? So he's starting to get trained in military tactics, well-tutored by Jacen in the Force, but still basically just a kid.
If I recall correctly, he carried a gun at this time. Perhaps Blaster 10 or Blaster 20 would be appropriate? Pair that with Force Cloak, and I think he starts to be something very unique. Not overpowering--which he shouldn't be--but an interesting option.

Seems reasonable. I think we should have a LoTF Ben before we get a FOTJ Ben. The other thing of note about Ben is that his skill with a saber isn't really that great either, going by the duel he had with Luke who basically said his skill with a saber was lacking.

Based on that, maybe it would be appropriate to have him have a single attack, 10 damage, no melee, and Lightsaber +10?

Yea if he is weak with the Lightsaber, then making him have just a single attack with it seems reasonable. Are we thinking some kind of synergy with Jacen? I mean he did learn a lot from him before noticing the evil in him.

I don't think Synenergy would be that useful. The only "Jacen" we have is....well, not stellar. It wouldn't be worth it. Synenergy with his parents on the other hand...

Yea I agree now, Jacen basically sucks, but Ben just seems so weak and fragile.

Here's a custom Ben I made last year:
Ben Skywalker Cost: 23 HP: 70 Def: 17 Att: 9 Dam: 10
Special Abilities Unique Trooper (Counts as a Trooper) Lightsaber +10 Synergy (+4 attack when an ally whose name contains 'Skywalker' is within 6 squares) Twin Attack
Force Powers Force 4 Force Cloak Lightsaber Block
I like him a lot, as I think he has a lot of the flavor of the LOTF Ben.
Thoughts?

I think that's a pretty solid start, although perhaps the numbers could be refined a little and possibly some new stuff could be added (or subbed in) based on newer abilities. (For example, I could almost see Ben having Dark Temptation, to show the risk of him falling prey to Caedus).
Why Trooper? Right now, it just seems to allow him to benefit from a single commander effect, no? If it's for flavor, couldn't the same thing be accomplished with a qualifier on his name?
How about giving him two different Synergies? I could see him getting +4 Defense from a Skywalker, but +4 Attack from Jacen.
Do we want him to be able to be fielded with Caedus (via Affinity)? If so, there are two different options: Ben in the Sith, or Caedus in the NR...
Good starting point. I think it captures his flavor and is well-balanced in game mechanics.
