Don't click the link if you don't want MotF spoiled... Wizards happens to have not 1, but 2 of the characters that we're making in MotF... What rotten luck for us...

I just saw that too!
I knew it...I just knew it.
The good news is that if we beat the MOTF deadline, they can all still "count" as "lost" twenty.
WHY did it have to be two of the ones we've worked so long on!

How are things going on the modelling for our characters? We need the models done too.

Modeling is just about dead. CerousMutor and I were pretty much the only ones working on them, and Cerous has taken an undetermined leave of absence from SWM. We might be able to release stats (on the cards, of course) before the models are finished, and then update when they're ready.

That might be best just so we can say we were first

Agreed. Figures would be nice, but I'll settle for just the cards.
As of them nabbing 2 of our top 20... I'm almost surprised it's not more!
I'm just glad they came from factions that could lose a piece and still have somebody cool left.

Well, could we just get out our stats first and keep them in? Or should we just have them as "bonus material that shouldn't be out anymore since WotC made them"?

No time to release "Bonus Stuff" since that would require we discuss two new pieces VERY quickly ...
What were the 21st and 22nd options that just barely missed the cut? If somebody already has something put together and we went Very Quickly ... otherwise, no time

Thought about it a little more, and here's what I suggest we do:
1) Move Watto and the yammosk up to the main list.
2) Drop Lord Hoth and Ganner Rhysode down, but still release them as "bonus material"
3) Obviously, we need cards made--and we really need to get somebody working on that soon!
4) Since we don't really have model-makers right now, I suggest that we instead make paper "standees." Anyone with the skill to make cards should also be able to make the standees.

I wouldn't go for standees. Either we get fill customs out, or we release the cards as "promo" material. Paper cut outs look very, very lame and could easily give the impression that we rushed the process and didn't really care.

Good news! Galk Fyyar, a great custom card maker, agreed to made our cards for us! (his work is top notch, I assure you). If we can finish up these last two characters, he can probably do them all. We need to find images to use for the cards though, so if you find something good post a link (remember that it has to look like the custom, so don't get anything too crazy).

I think the first thing we should ask him to do is put together Celeste Morne's card to see how it looks. If it looks good, we can settle on the cost. If not, we can figure out what we need to cut. Over at the WotC boards, there's a thread with pics for a lot of the characters posted. I nabbed about 8-10 of them (maybe more?) from Wookieepedia and other sources, and I know I wasn't the only one posting. What exactly do you mean when you sayd "remember that it has to look like the custom"? Custom figs don't currently exist, do they? (More on that in the next post!)

Hopefully, the pictures we use for the cards will look like the customs, meaning the pictures we use have to be feasibly made into custom form. So don't use stuff like a Jedi leaping off a building.

Paper cut outs look very, very lame and could easily give the impression that we rushed the process and didn't really care. With all due respect, I think releasing just the cards makes it look like we didn't really care! I don't know where the discussion ended (or if it has), but I know that the Virtual Sets folk at SWMGamers were at one point discussing using paper minis and while there were some who opposed the idea, it seemed that there were also a decent amount of supported them. I understand that paper minis might look "lame", but I think it would be more lame to have nothing. If we produce a pdf that includes cards AND standees, it's essentially a "ready to play" supplement. Players can cut out the cards, fold up the standees, and go. This is probably as good a time as any to discuss timing. WHEN do we want out set out there? My thinking is "As soon as possible after the release of MotF." Ideally, I think we'd want to release while MotF is still lively and being discussed (within a week or ten days)... or else our set is likely to get lost in a "dead" period following the official funeral for the game. Since the idea of making custom mini figs seems to be "dead in the water" (I believe was the phrase used), we're faced with the option of NOTHING or SOMETHING. I prefer SOMETHING. I'm interested to know what others think about the timeframe for release, as well as what the chances are of actually working on custom figures in a timely manner. (I think somewhere between 2 and 4 had been completed, but that's still a looooooong way from done).
