DG, at a cost of 30, you could play three of them, not that you'd ever need to
I'd say this piece is just about wrapped up - a static commander. Fascinating. I wasn't really familiar with these (I always thought they were trees - maybe I'm thinking of something else) - but I like it's potential in the game today. Nice work here - this is an interesting piece.

Assuming that we're looking at something like this, I'm not sure that I'd even go about 20 for the cost.
Yes, the commander effect is good, and Booming Voice is a great boom to the Vong, but with the introduction of Relay Command, Booming Voice has lost some of its value. Also, Booming Voice doesn't mean anything unless you have commanders to use it.
Dependent Leadership is HUGE drawback, and--let's be honest--despite the high HP, this thing is just a sitting duck waiting to get ganked. I don't think that's inappropriate, mind you, but when you look at the many limitations, I think 30 is high. Heck, I think 20 might be high. I could see this thing being as low as 12-15, if we wanted to price it aggressively to help the faction.

Aggresive pricing would be good, but as a side note, there's nothing stopping the player from keeping the Yammosk in the way back, like one would do with Mas.

You are correct, but:
1) Mas can run from a fight.
2) If Mas is defeated, the only bad thing is that you lose Booming Voice. You don't also gain a field-wide disadvantage.
The way I see it, Dependent Leadership, while appropriate, is a HUGE downside to anything the piece offers. This is further compounded by the fact that the piece can do nothing to defend itself or escape (again, appropriate).
To make it playable, it has to be priced such that players are willing to take the risk, to say "Well, it's not that many points; I'll take the gamble..."

Good points. Is it really going to be a huge? I'm sure the pieces that we're looking at for customizing are going to be large-sized. Perhaps we could give it Evade, like Palpy, to help him survive a bit longer (though he still would be pretty cheap)

Some sort of defensive ability or maybe even more HP, for a low low cost. Gregarious is pretty decent but when the Vong go savage they are basically doomed but I see fun in that even if I am the one on the losing end. Anyone thought about damage reduction 10?

I had recommeded a defensive ability like DR10 a while back, especially if the piece is huge.
As to the size: We're still waiting to see if the cutting crew can come up with a decent physical mini for the yammosk. Otherwise, the yammosk is out as an official part of the setlist (although the card will likely still be included as a bonus, like Watto), and Shimmra is in.
If we go by descriptions from the books, I think it would actually be larger than huge. (Colassal? Is that one step up from huge?)

I think "Gargatan" or something is the term.
On a side note, I think Savage Vong, while significantly hindering, wouldn't be as bad as another faction having it, since the Vong are mostly melee anyway. It's true that their efficiency is cut in half by no longer being eligible for CEs, but they still have Shaper and Scarification to fall back on.
But it's still an appropriately hindering drawback.

I saw a mini somewhere for Yammosk I think on Wizards and it looked quite nice, it was a normal size piece, but maybe even a large wouldn't be bad.

Well, being on the cutting crew, I can tell you that of the pieces we have looked at, most are large sized. CeriousMutor's Yammosk that he made out of greenstuff was also on a large base. Think of it as...a baby Yammosk.

Just 12 points for 130 HP? And I thought Jagged Fel had good HP for his cost!
Seriously, I think we should get this thing up over 20. I think adding in another ability we suggested, like maybe YV Coordinator (Speed 8 to YV) or something. While they should be cheap enough that playing two is an option, I think the lowest it should go should be 20.

I agree that around 20 would be better. YV Coordinator is cool, a slightly different version of a very underused abilitiy

Over on the Shimmra thread, I noted that perhaps the "use two abilities" commander effect might be better suited to the yammosk. What do you guys think?

Hmm I dont know lets vote....Yuuzhan Vong Coordinator or "use two abilities"? I was originally thinking Coordinator but if you are going to use that Tarpals like ability on Shimra then yeah lets put it on Yammosk and make him like 24-26 points.
