So, maybe...
Gryph
Cost: 25-ish
Faction: Old Republic
Hit Points: 40
Defense: 15
Attack: 0
Damage: 0
Unique
Befuddle (Replaces attacks; target living adjacent enemy is considered activated this round and cannot make attacks of opportunity this turn; save 11)
Diplomat (If an attacker has line of sight to any enemies without Diplomat, this character is not a legal target and does not count as the nearest enemy, even if adjacent)
Disruptive (Suppresses enemy commander effects within 6 squares)
Rapport (Characters named Jarael or Zayne Carrick cost 1 less when in the same squad as this character)
Commander Effect:
Droids are subject to this effect: At the end of this character's turn, 2 allies within 6 squares of this character who are the same size may switch positions.
*****
The character count is under 700, and he has an "average" number of abilities, so I don't think there should be any problem getting him to fit.
I think is commander effect works well with, among other characters, Jarael, Carth Onasi, and even Bastila Shan. Jarael and Bastila are both triple melee attackers who lack Greater Mobile Attack. Gryph's swapping increases the chance they'll be able to get into place.
Jarael is an excellent partner for Gryph (appropriately enough) not only because of the above, but because she has a movement of 8. Spend a Force point, and she can run up to 18 squares. Her Evade and Parry should keep her alive long enough to allow Gryph to swap someone into place once she gets there.
Carth represents an interesting option because of Intuition. He can slide into place at the beginning of the round, and then another attacker can be swapped in. Carth is a bit closer to being worth his cost (although still not there yet), as Gryph helps him maximize his special abilities. Again, Intuition lets him get into place, he can Double-Twin with Deadeye for up to 80 damage. Then, assuming he survives, Gryph can swap him back to safety.
I'm surethere are many other synergies, but I wanted to point out a fewe that I thought were interesting.
