Hello All,
I'd say that it's probably a given that we're going to try and release some member created sets to the WotC community. If you're not up to speed on this concept, read Master Skywalker's thread in General before you vote.
Jedi Academy comes out on June 30, so that means we wouldn't have much time to develop a new set and release it to the WotC boards without it being overshadowed by JA. This means that we can either:
A. Develop, complete, and release a set in the next week or so.
B. Begin work on the set, but wait to release between Jedi Academy and Galaxy at War - probably around the end of August.
Both sides have their advantages. If we were to hurry and get it out, the boards are pretty quiet right now, and we'd probably get a lot of attention. Also, if we didn't move quickly, the boards will probably be working up to JA, and we would be ignored if we released it after a week from now, and would have to wait until the similar in-between-sets-lull after JA. However, if we do choose to wait, we can probably do a better job selecting and reviewing the miniatures, and make it overall a better set. Since there are (unfounded) talks about Galaxy at War being the last SWM set, we could steal the spotlight if such a travesty were ever to occur.
Discuss below. As this involves everyone, we're making this a member-wide vote, not a JCM vote. Once we have what looks like a majority on the site, we'll begin work on the set.
Also, we need a set name. Just something else we can discuss.

I concur, let's wait. We should gather a group of characters who fit a common theme, and all of whom are considered to be top work. (none of those random characters who just waste set space)

Okay, I was going to say wait, too. Good.
What should our theme be?

Okay, what do people think about a Galactic Civil War set?
And, I'd suggest 60, but that's just a personal preference. 40 is the current norm, so Idk what we should do.

Are we still doing this? JA's been out for more than a month already, and it is already late August.

We need more interested members. Besides, the WotC forums are down.

Are we still gonna do this?
I would say make it a balanced set that mainly has OR, Sith, Rebel, and Empire but a little of Rep and Sep in it to to be able to kind of balance out Galaxy at War.
I was thinking something like
(40 piece set) OR 9 Sith 6 Rep 2 Sep 1 Rebel 3 Empire 3 NR 4 Vong 6 Fringe 6
or
(60 piece set) OR 13 Sith 9 Rep 4 Sep 3 Rebel 4 Empire 5 NR 7 Vong 12 Fringe 7
So just balanced across each faction with the weaker ones showing the most support.
Also if we do 60 should we maybe have it be huge?
As for the set name I was thinking
Heros and Villians Masters of the Force The Vong Invasion (Differnt layout focused on Vong) The Old Wars (Different layout focused on OR and Sith) Betrayers of the Galaxy (Includes characters that are notable for shifting sides) Hunters of the Galaxy (Kind of like Bounty Hunters)
I'll start to look through the database for some great pieces I think the public would like.

Here are some possiblities I found quickly.
37. Vodo-Siosk Baas (Needs a changed name) Cost: 70 (Maybe find a way to lower cost 70 is pretty high in todays game) HP: 140 Defense: 22 Attack: 12 Damage: 10
Special Abilities: Unique Double Attack Intuition Jedi Trainer (?)
Force Powers: Force 3 Force Renewal 1 Force Spirit 8 Lightsaber Block Force Alter Force Stun Master of the Force 2 Force Bind (?)
Commander Effect: Allied characters with a Force rating can spend this characters Force Points as though it were his own. It cannot spend the Force more times per turn than his alloted amount and cannot combine his force with this characters force.
42. Revan, Redeemed Jedi Cost: 78 HP: 140 Defense: 22 Attack: +15 Damage: 20
Special Abilities: Unique Melee Attack Twin Attack (Whenever this character attacks, he makes one extra attack against the same target) Jedi Reflexes (When hit by a melee or non-melee attack, take no damage with a save of 16) Rapport (Characters named Bastila Shan cost 1 less in same squad)
Force Powers Force 2 Force Renewal 1 (This character gets 1 force each time he activates.) Master of the Force 2 (May spend force points up to two times per turn) Critical Strike (Force 1: Usable on this characters turn. Score a critical hit on a natural roll of 16 or higher on all attacks this turn.) Lightsaber Assault (Force 1: Replaces attacks. Make 2 attacks. Master Speed (Force 1: This character can move 6 extra squares on his turn as part of his move)
Commander Effect Allied characters within 6 squares are immune to Betrayal. Allied followers with a force rating can spend Revan's force points on their turn. They cannot combine their force points with Revan's and cannot spend force points more than their alloted amount.
8. Freedon Nadd, Sith Sorcerer Cost: 74 HP: 130 Defense: 21 Attack: +15 Damage: 20
Special Abilities: Melee Attack Double Attack Dark Armor (When this character takes damage, it reduces the damage dealt by 10 with a save of 11. Adjacent enemies with lightsabers ignore this special ability) Vicious Attack (Triple damage instead of double on a critical hit) Unique

I have the same question. Do we still plan to do this? So far, I think we have three interested members - Jm, GG, and myself, as RS and MS (who haven't logged on in or posted for months. We could send them an e-mail or PM them on Wizards or Bloomilk.com). We may be able to get Darthblond interested as well, and I could try and get a few of the more involved customizers at Bloomilk to come check out the boards here.
Another question: are we going to use only the best customs from the database, or make fresh, brand new and updated customs? If the former, we won't really need a whole lot of members involved, other than for feedback about which pieces we should use, which we would really only need 4 or 5 to do. If the latter, then the more members involved, the better, both for more stats to choose from and more feedback.
I agree that we should balance out the factions in the set. The OR, Sith, Mandos, and Vong haven't seen a whole lot of WotC's attention in the last few sets. Focusing on them I think is a great idea.
Some other possibilities for the set name, are:
Threats to the Galaxy (if we decide to focus on the Sith, Vong, and a few Mandos, with smaller numbers of pieces from the OR, Reb, Rep, Seps, Imps, NR, and Fringe)
Defenders of Peace / Defenders of the Galaxy (opposite of TttG, focusing on OR, some Rep and Rebs, Sith, and some NR, and a couple Imps, Rebs, and Vong)
Vector Prime (another possibility if we decide to focus on the Vong)
Those are good picks from the db.
On Vodo: We could change his name to V-SB, Jedi Master, or something equally generic. To drop his cost, I would suggest dropping MotF2, Alter (other one has that), Force Spirit down to 6, and depending on what Force Bind and Jedi Trainer are, possibly dropping one or both of them. Also, he needs Melee Attack.
On Revan: Very good choice, I think he would fit the set perfectly, but the Rapport will probably end up having no difference if he's put in a squad - or the difference between picking a Gran Raider over an Ugnaught Demolitionist as your last mini.
On Freedon Nadd: Another good choice, somewhat out-dated but still nice. I have a similar, more updated version of him, if you guys are interested in seeing it (of course, you could always just find his "super-secret hiding spot").

I like the Defenders of Peace idea most. Also totally forgot about Mandos opps lol.
Maybe we could make a new ability to kind of give to light side characters like Defender of Peace (This character gains +4 defense while an enemy with a force rating is within 6 squares)
I think both those Revan and Nadd could be in it as well with little change and I like the idea of maybe just updating the stats in the database or just making totally new ones.
Also we still need to decide, huge or not? 40 or 60?
Since its been a while since a huge set and if you go on wizards a lot of people are wanting a huge set I would say huge and 60 would be easier for distribution.

Yeah. We'll have to see what the others have to say.
Yeah. Here are the stats for my Freedon Nadd, so we can compare and make changes to the db one or just use one of them:
Freedon Nadd
Cost: 77 Hit Points: 160 Defense: 21 Attack: +15 Damage: 20
Special Abilities: Unique Melee Attack (can attack only adjacent enemies) Triple Attack (this character can make two extra attacks on his turn instead of moving) Vicious Attack (triple damage instead of double on a critical hit) Dark Armor (whenever this character takes damage, reduce the damage by 10 with a save of 11; adjacent characters with lightsabers ignore this special ability)
Force Powers: Force 3 Force Renewal 1 (this character gains Force 1 each time he activates) Master of the Force 2 (can spend Force points up to 2 times in a single turn) Force Lightning 4 (Force 4, replaces attacks: range 6; 50 damage to target; Huge or smaller characters are considered activated this round, save 16) Sith Sorcery (Force 2, usable only on this character's turn: enemy characters within 6 squares are considered activated this round, save 11) Illusion (Force 1: when hit by an attack, this character takes no damage unless the attacker makes a save of 11) Overwhelming Force (Force 1: this character's attacks cannot be prevented or redirected this turn) Dark Force Spirit 1 (if this character is defeated, each enemy character with a Force rating loses 1 Force point each time it activates for the rest of the skirmish)
"Freedon Nadd was a Dark Jedi. The stories say he was far worse than Revan and Malak ever were."
I agree. Huge, 60.
