Sharrakor may be right. I haven't been here for that long, yet I find myself becoming a careful analyst of almost all of the customs I see. Must be something in the water over here (jk, lol).
I do agree that we should either take a different view on Stat Creation or create a whole new part of the boards - Stat Discussion (or something) where we (and other members) create pieces that aren't designed to be clean, streamlined, balanced, etc. These pieces wouldn't be added to the database (or have their own separate database, or be distinguished from the other database pieces, etc.), and would be more fun and light, were we could make suggestions to make them more fun to play, instead of having them stripped bare and put back together.

Sharrakor? Did you mean surfrider?
Yeah, I considered that possibility as well. However, I have the feeling that, if we were to introduce a Stat Discussion, or something, that would make Stat Creation completely obsolete. Unfortunately, I don't think it'd work very well. We could always simply change our standards for Stat Creation instead of introducing a Stat Discussion section. Surfrider has a point - we should only help recost and reword abilities, rather than stripping down and rebuilding a piece. When a piece is introduced into Stat Creation, it has generally already been through a revision process - it's how the creator wants it. Unless they say otherwise - like, "I don't know what to do, but I think he needs to be streamlined" - we should only recost (which we've gotten good at, better than most people) the piece more along the lines of what WotC would. If they aren't happy with the cost, we can suggest what they can drop. We've gotten too overbearing, I think.

Whoops, yeah, I just saw the yellow stars/no avatar and assumed it was Sharrakor, since he is the only one who has posted recently that fits that description. Lol.
I agree there. Perhaps it will be better if we do as you suggest. How should we go about doing this?

Just take Stat Creation a little less seriously.

Okay. We should post this somewhere else, so that others who log on later, after we continue the discussion with this thread, will know about the change.

Okay. We should post this somewhere else, so that others who log on later, after we continue the discussion with this thread, will know about the change. Do we actually have a "Post" on what we do here? If so, announce its simply "Stat Creation" as opposed to a serious critique. Recost/reword is simple. How many of us haven't done that on our own? What actually may be more difficult is getting people in now. Customs posts on WOTC and Gamers seem to be way down ... may be a byproduct of the recession and the lack of discretionary (read play) money

Surfrider, we can do that on our own. We're good at that. The issue is, other people may not be - which is why they'd come here. Someone else new to the game may not understand WotC-speak, which is where we come in.
