Do you want to start up - or ressurect - an old membership thread? I dunno if they deleted all the threads back when they redid everything, but if you could bump one on to the front page, that'd help us out a lot. We got some new members last time, it might work again. Karma may be in store if you assist me with this task.

This is the message I posted. Hello, The Star Wars Custom Miniatures Database is looking for new active memebers. The Star Wars Custom Miniature Database is a community-created resource for players of the Wizards of the Coast Star Wars Miniatures game. The database is the largest repository for member-created game statistics anywhere on the web. The site currently has over 1,000 community created "stats" for miniatures either not represented in the Wizards of the Coast game, or a differing interpretation of some of these characters. We hope to see some of you joining and becoming active. Even if you don't prefer to make stats we still have much input to the Customs we make and anyone could be help out. I saw that message on BlooMilk. It's a good idea to post that all over the SWM Community. I could send individual PMs to a few members who have made good customs over at BlooMilk. The two I am thinking of (right now) have made very good customs and I could encourage them to post their custom sets here, so they will continue to check in. Sound like a good idea?

Uh...what about Shiva? Do you think he'd be interested? Did anyone ever comment on that thread, after all?

Shiva? You mean Shinja? Idk, maybe, but he has a lot of work to do with BlooMilk. And I don't think anybody commented on that thread, but it had a lot of views and we got at least one new member out of it (I think). Is sending out PMs a good idea?
EDIT: Also, there have been 21 guests online today. I think that's the most I've ever seen.

Yeah. He does good work, see if we can't get him to stop by.
I think the WotC community sees us as a joke, multiple attempts haven't done much over there for recruitment.
However, bloomilk and SWMGamers.com are both ripe for new members. Let's keep working over there.
What do you mean about PM's?
And, yes. Guests are a good thing.

Hmm I'll see if I can do that.
I could send PMs out to some members at BM. They should reply/stop by if I single them out.

If they express interest. Or are particularly active in the custom forum.

I think the WotC community sees us as a joke, multiple attempts haven't done much over there for recruitment. I'm not sure I'd agree with that comment. While I've been busy with life, and I actually haven't played the game this calendar year, I have been keeping up with custom making and even come onto this board on occassion just to see what's up. Maybe this community needs to revise/revamp what it actually does. I bring this up because of the changes on the Wizards boards and what has been done over there since the Change a few weeks ago. The Customs Boards is a place where we've introduced new characters and ideas. But I think we also discourage some people from joining; from what I remember we've spent an awful lot of our time deconstructing every custom stat/figure that comes through here; we've spent weeks sometimes debating whether a figure should have this ability or that, this point total or ... well, you get the idea. Maybe if we didn't do it to death (the discussion) so to speak, it would attact more people. Introduce a new fig, talk about it for a few days and move on to another. Does it Really have to be perfect? The data base is there as a resource, but come on, who are we kidding? Perfection isn't needed. Common sense and playability is all we need to aim for. WOTC doesn't use us, and casual players will take whatever they find. Vets will modify whatever they find to suit themselves; We spend a lot of energy on dissection and that scares people off. Keep it simply, fun, and do a lot of them. Maybe offer up card ideas, custom pics of what people have done. Expand, keep it light. I think we take ourselves too seriously ... its a Game ... have fun with it. Just an opinion from an old member who'd be willing to contribute again in a modified way ......

Hmm. Maybe you're right. We could always introduce a lighter method of Stat Creation - give people the option to send their piece through SC, but not force it. It's true that sometimes a piece looks completely different from how it started on the other side of Stat Creation - maybe we need to revise our standards or methods. However, some pieces really do need to be revised - a Revan with 180 HP, a Bane with 300...what do other people think?
