Wait...how is it not different from Melee Attack?

Melee Attack breaks a lot or rules, such as targeting, combining fire, and cover, etc. But it's so widely used that the game had to be adapted to it, so it isn't noticed very much.

Well, I always thought that the game was structured so that Melee Attack was an integral part of the game. It came out in the first set; it can't break a rule if the rule comes out at the same time as the rule-breaker.

It was structured as an exception to the rule. Looking at the basic rules, completely in a vacuum (in other words, without taking Melee Attack into any consideration at all), it is apparent that Melee Attack does, in fact, break the rules. But it was managed, like you said, since the beginning, so the impact it has is mitigated. Many other abilities "break the rules" that form the very core or structure of SWM, such as Force Immunity or Droid.

Yeah, but you don't really see Droid come into play anymore. I think a bigger rule breaker is Cyborg - it gives both defects, and neither benefit. Force Immunity is a fair point - but the one that really bugs me are the initiative breakers, and GMA. Intuition, Surprise Move (though to a lesser extent than Intuition, because it costs something) and GMA are really the three biggest problems in the game today - not even discussing Disintegration...

Mass-production of any abilities except for 'standard' ones (Unique, Melee, Double, Droid, etc.) is never good, but when its a powerful ability like Evade or GMA is just plain sucks for older pieces.

Yeah. It's too bad the game saw so much power creep.

Yeah. WotC is notorious for mishandling the games they create, and they were no different with SWM. Wizard's SW license may be bought up by another miniature company, though they will likely create a much different game if that's the case (the minis wouldn't be prepainted, may have a different scale, could be made of metal and cost more). We'll see.

Is there any discussion of another company buying it? Or is that just speculation?

A company posted that they were going to. It may fall through, but it seems to be pretty sincere.

Maybe they wouldn't change the game much. Though SSB could do with an overhaul.

It turned out to be a fake (it was some kind of April Fool's joke). Oh well. Looks like we'll have to be more patient.

I don't think anyone will buy a failing franchise like that. We might get lucky, though.

Yeah, we might. It might run off the V-sets SWMGamers are making, but we'll see. If a new company picks it up, that'd be awesome. But I doubt that.

The issue is that WotC has killed their market. They accelerated the power creep, almost like they knew they'd lose the franchise after fifteen sets, or something.
