I know, I totally hate it.
Lol.
I had legendary in all other medal classes, and only 4 in that one, but I was getting sick of seeing:
Legendary Legendary Legendary Veteran Legendary Legendary Legendary Legendary Legendary
That's true, and how they all launch at once - that's a definite advantage. On the other hand, I like aiming up, and hitting a frigate 2000 yards away. That's always fun.
I killed Vader once by hitting him with a speeder bike once on Endor, that's true. You know how the heroes die when the reinforcements are getting low? Well, my sister and I were playing as Imperials, and Vader was just offscreen - you could see his lightsaber and feet while he was running. Well, he died, but we didn't know that, and it looked like Vader just dropped his lightsaber, which my sister promptly stepped on - and died. Lol. That was so funny.
They weren't Autoturrets; they were manned. I mean the ones on Bespin, not the Autoturrets on capital ships from BfII.
I did it once. It was ridiculous, but with the Elite Rifle, you just keep sighting them up, and they die if you hit them once, which is convenient, and the only reason I survived once.
I hate them. End of story.
LOL!!! I'm totally going downstairs right now to try this.

Lol. That would get annoying. I haven't played BF II in a long time, I think I mgiht start playing it again, for a bit.
How many kills do you have? Like 100 000??? Lol.
Yeah, they shoot really fast, which I like. I hate the shot-gun-like cannons on the Republic bomber, they're stupid. Almost useless.
LOL. That's awesome. It's fun dropping mines in their path when they piss you off. Weird how they can deflect rockets.
Ohhhh, those turrets. Yeah, those were beast. They ripped the fighters apart, which is awesome.
Yeah, I can see that. I see why it's called the Elite Rifle. I am not very good with the standard rifle, compared to how easy the ER is to use.
Lol. It is awesome, just don't save after you finish so you don't have the -27 kills, 14 deaths impact your stats. Lol.

It's a good game. I want the new one - Renegade Squadron? - to come out for XBOX. It allows weapon customization, you know, accuracy or damage, speed or accuracy. It also has new heroes, like Ben Kenobi, and Luke, Rebel. I've recently gone back to BFI, but that disc is scratched, or something, because it freezes occasionally.
No, I have around 58,000 kills, and about 1950 deaths. It's ridiculous, I know.
For sure. Which starfighter do you like best? I hate the Tri-Fighter, but the missles are sort of nice. The Jedi Starfighter or the TIE Interceptor are my favorites, but recently, I've been flying the mid-class ships, the TIE Fighter and the X-wing, because they can take more than one hit before they die.
Oh, and blasts from AT-ATs. That's always cool. But, I only know of the one way to kill them, with the speeder, but I did once blast Luke Skywalker out of one of the windows on Bespin, Platforms when I threw a thermal detonator at him. He died.
Yeah, I know. Pretty easy to take out from a fighter, too. If you remember. The good thing there, though, is if you're over a platform and they're shooting you up, you can just bail out and land on the platform, which is pretty convenient, and faster than landing.
Yeah, for sure. I've been getting better with the basic rifle, because I'm playing BFI, and my kill total is like 12 to 1, as compared to 30 to 1 with the Elite Rifle. Lol.
Lol. Why do you die sometimes when you hit the frigate, and not other times? And why do you wave your arms when you fall sometimes, and not other times? I can only pull it off with the Starfighter, everything else lands too slowly.

Yeah, that game looks good. If it's anywhere near as good as BF I and BF II, it'll be a great game. I hope it brings back some of the great maps, and introduces really good new ones.
Lol. It is. I thought I was good. I have around 53 000 kills and just over 2000 deaths. I think I saved once accidentally when I had fun blowing up my team on a few maps.
Do you play with friendly fire on or off? Recently, I've been playing with it off, because it pisses me off when an idiotic droid walks in front of me when I shoot a rocket. On maps like Polis Massa, I would kill like half my tean with D Maul.
For dogfighting, I prefer the Jedi Interceptor. The Tri-Fighter isn't very good, so I always steal a JI from the enemy when I'm CIS.
But, generally I use the bombers. I like bombing the big transports, like LAATs. Why do the Rebels use that ship? Lol.
Yeah, the AT-ATs are powerful. I hate how, in BF II, the standard lasers on almost all the vehicles do almost no damage to other vehicles. It's always the rockets, or particle cannons, that do the big damage.
Lol. That would be funny to see.
Yeah. It's fun just landing your ship in mid-air, and having it land towards the ground (core, I guess), missing the platform. Weird.
Lol. I guess that's part of the glitch. I never realized that the turrets on the frigates were so big. It would be cool if, in Renegade, you could use jet troopers or Zero-G Troopers in space. Could you imagine? Fly on top of ships, have a heart attack when a bomber is flying straight at you, etc.

It's only for PSP, unfortunately. But it's the most successful Star Wars video game series in history - I really hope we see a BFIII, along with weapon customization. If not, well, there's always ebay for when the PSPII comes out.
Yeah, that's right around me. My kill ratio is right around 30.10 - and it keeps going up, little by little. The good news is, if you have a bad battle, the stats don't move around as much.
On the second Battlefront, it's off for me. It's more realistic, and it makes you a better player, I think. But, I left it on for BFI, because the idiot teammates throw thermal dets at you, so that irritates the hell out of me. Of course, it's less of a deal when that happens - there's no kill ratio on BFI.
Lol. I usually fly a vessel over, blow up both Autoturrets (even on my own ship, I hate when my own Autoturrets shoot me down), then go out and dogfight. Sometimes during the Galactic Conquests, I'll just fly over and blow up everything, because it's faster than dogfighting, and during the GCs, I get so tired of space battles. I don't lose in space, though.
I have no idea. I hate that. How hard is it to animate a shuttle? I mean, come on. Lazy Battlefront staff.
Yeah, I noticed that - especially when I got back to BFI after playing BFII for a while. It's bizarre. And I died about five times before I remembered that you can't hack enemy vehicles in BFI.
I didn't get the kill, though, strangely enough. But I didn't mind, it was just that cool.
I've done that before. I died once, too, it irritated me. But bailing out is way more fun. Especially on Hoth, when you can fly out over the AT-ATs, bail out, and run around on top of the flat back of the AT-ATs. That's exciting.
I've never been shot at, yet, but I bet I will, soon enough. I've only done that once, for one battle. Lol. It's fun to watch the battle and not participate. It'd be cool if it was Zero-G - you could just float over to the enemy hangar. If you were lucky. But what's interesting is that you can only do that with the Empire and the Republic - who both have space-worthy armor anyway. The Rebels, for instance, you can't spend any time outside the ship.

I don't have a PSP, so I won't be able to get it . Lol. Oh yeah, I made a rather large mis-estimate (really shows how long it's been since I played) on my kills and deaths. I have just over 34 000 kills and about 2650 deaths. Lol. I guess that's because I play a lot of space battles. Or because I love sniping or using the shotgun. My kill ratio is just under 13. Yeah, I can see that. I like to leave it on, too, but my kill-to-death ratio was like 7 before I turned it off, and it annoyed the heck out of me when I killed half my teammates when they walked into a thermal detonator or ran in front of me. I basically said screw my teammates, I only want them to guard my CPs, nothing else. They don't so I just turn off friendly fire and pretend they don't exist. Lol. Yeah, the Autoturrets are stupid. They are the only thing that ever kills me (or they weaken me and I get killed in one hit from another ship). Yeah, a Rebel Transport would be cool. Stupid LAAT is so boring. On Geonosis, I like to first capture the CP on the hill, then, as Count D, jump on top of the AT-TE and hack away at the gun turret on top with my lightsaber. I take a lot of fire (particularily from snipers), but the clones keep jumping into the gun turret, and I keep killing them, until the AT-TE goes down from my slashes. Yeah, if the shields are still up, you won't take any damage, but once they're down, I've died a couple times from a crazy enemy pilot. I've never tried it as Rebels, I'll have to go and check it out.

I know. Stupid exclusive liscensing.
Lol. That's not terrible; and your ratios would move around more easily than mine. Lower numbers, and all.
See, I kind of like that guess-work. It's exciting to have to gauge the distance so you don't blow your buddies away; but maybe I'd shut it off just so I don't get killed by my own Auto-Turrets. I just hate that.
Exactly. I hate them the most of anything in the game.
And just lazy. Lol.
Lol. That's epic. I've never done that, and Dooku is really a terrible hero anyway.
Huh. I suppose...did the pilot shoot you, or did he ram you?
Well, you'd die anyway...just fall off the vessel.
By the way, I've been playing Battlefront I more frequently lately, and I've noticed some differences. For instance, in BFI, thermal detanators have a larger blast radius and do more damage, but you can't throw them as far. Dark Troopers and Rebel Pilots are incredibly overpowered because of their shotgun. The heroes are fun to try and kill - and I stepped on Luke Skywalker with an AT-AT, and he died. Epic win. Another thing; it's much harder than BFII, at least with the Elite Rifle. I actually lost a ground battle when I was trying to win, the first time in about a year. The Imperials virtually cannot win on Naboo Plains without the bonus for Elite Training from Yavin in Galactic Conquest.
In one case, on Naboo Plains, I lost the Central Command Post, and then never managed to retake it, despite sustaining unbelieveably heavy casualties. Eventually, I was down to like 15 men vs. 90, with one CP, and no vehicles. I knew we were in for a last stand, and my men and I were surrounded by Rebels about midway between the Central Command Post and the CP in the forest. We were in a basin, and Rebels surrounded us, taking the high ground, and raining fire down on us. No matter how many we killed, more kept running in from the CPs around us. We put up a valiant fight, and I was the last survivor, having taken out 12 Rebels during the skirmish before I was eventually killed. That was the most fun I've had during a Battlefront battle in a long time, and we lost. It was awesome, and I don't mind that we lost to superior strategy. I think their final reinforcement count was in the 60s, or something, so for a last stand, we didn't do too badly. That was an awesome battle.

Yeah, they usually go up by a point or two each game, or by five when I play Polis Massa. Lol.
Yeah, that pisses me off too. They just have to hit near you, and they deal incredible damage when you compare them to, say, the giant beam turbolasers on the capital ships. They always kill me, so recently I've been flying into the enemy hangar and sniping pilots. Btw, does destroying that autoturrent defense mainframe thing in the first room in the capital ship do anything? I've never noticed.
Yeah, Count D is weird. His attacks are slow, and no LS throw makes him to slow for my tastes. The choke is only good for one-on-one fights. That's why I like DV, with his really fast speed boost, accurate jump attack, LS throw, and choke.
I've been shot at once - I think it was a droid starfighter, and it shot a torpedo at me, and I went flying. Lol. It was interesting. For some reason, the pilots always crash into the ship after shooting at me. Weird.
Lol. Yeah, and it takes like half and hour before you die. I like how over Tatooine you fall away from the planet.
Yeah, it is a lot harder. That's the one thing I remember. I think the AI might have been better, too: you could stay out of the battle for a few minutes and you're team wouldn't lose.
That's awesome. I might just play that, becuase I did something similar on Endor in BF II: the rebels had like 20 points left, my team had one. I was Vader, but only had about a third health left. So I though I could do a last-stand thing. I captured a CP so I would still have one, and then I noticed an AT-ST - my AT-ST, with my guy inside, walking towards the traps on the one side of the map. So I went sprinting towards it, but ran into like 5 rebels on the way. After killing them, I noticed that it turned around, but was getting bombarded by rebels. It was destroyed before I could reach them. It was fun, though.
The only game in BF II that I lose frequently is Hunt on Tatooine - I play as the Tuskens. In my two most recent games, I've had 171 kills and 1 death (we went to 100 points each game). My team had 13 kills in that same time span. I actually won the first game - with 90 kills and 0 deaths, but got owned the second time like 85 or something to 100.

Lol. Exactly. I love that map; the only problem is the flanking issue with the tanks outside. Not that it happens frequently, but it could.
Yes. That destroys the Auto-Turrets outside, so only manned guns are still firing. If you really, really hate the Ack-Acks, just destroy the terminals inside, then there'll be no guns firing. Also, I destroy my own Auto-Turrets before I leave my ship; there's nothing worse than being shot down by an Auto-Turret, except for being shot down by your own Auto-Turrets.
Generally, for heroes, I like to use the general heroes, with Saber Throw and Force Push. Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, the sort without any special FP's. Of course, I rarely use Force Push at all, and tend to stick to the Saber Throw, so as long as they have Saber Throw, I don't mind. On Vader, I hate the way he jumps. It's like, "Hahaha. Gravity doesn't exist!" I prefer using Luke Skywalker, or Anakin Skywalker, because of their fast attacks and focused Sprint Attack - with Obi-Wan, once he starts sprinting, you have to go through the whole attack before breaking off, and I absolutely hate Ki-Adi-Mundi's sprint attack. So, in general, I prefer the Skywalkers.
Huh. Well, they're not human pilots, so they don't understand "If I hit that big thing, I die." They seem to crash an awful lot. Especially when I'm about to destroy the carrier ships for like 4 kills, they'll fly into the ship, and there go my kills.
Really? That's hilarious. Is Tatooine above you for that battle?
Eh. Sometimes. But it's true, the AI is much more skilled in BFI. In BFII, even if you set it to Elite, the enemy AI suddenly gets better, but your teammates AI doesn't...
Oh, see, I didn't have any heroes, and I couldn't be a hero, and didn't have my Elite Rifle. It was crazy...just unbelieveable. If you want to do this, just lose the center CP, and then you'll lose the battle, and have a last stand.
Hunts don't count - they always favor one side, with the possible exception of the Wampas vs. Rebels on Hoth. On Endor, the Ewoks always win. Naboo; CIS. Tatooine; Jawas. And your team, if you're losing, automatically sucks during Hunt. There's supposedly a downloadable Hunt for the PC version; Order 66, Clones vs. Jedi.

Yeah, it's a good map.
I thought it would do something like that, but never really noticed. Maybe it's because I almost never leave the ship after going inside.
Yeah. Recently, I've gotten really good at timing the heros so I sprint, jump, and unleash a jump attack right where I want to, so DV's been less useful to me. I like how fast he goes when he sprints, though.
Lol. That's why I like to play as the CIS: their fighters seem to ignore me. Lol.
I believe so. I thought that was weird to: I just remember jumping off the Star Destroyer and wondering "Where the heck it the planet?". Lol. In some battles, it seems like the planet is at the side, too.
I've never played on Elite, I don't really care how good my enemy is. A challenge is nice, but that's why I play the Hunt as the Tuskens or play on Endor.
Lol. Okay, I'll try it out.
The Hunts are a nice change of pace. I have won in every Hunt game, on both sides (for some reason I like to play a Hunt game every time I play), but on some (like the Gungans), it is really hard. At least with the Tuskens or Ewoks you can kill something in a normal way, and not have to use grenades the whole time.
Order 66 would be cool. Of course, I would always be the Jedi.

I quite like starfighting, it's an exciting part of the game. I played all the Rogue Squadrons, so I like flying these ships. In Rise of the Empire on BFII, for the Battle of Coruscant, I'll hang out during the starfight because there's no troop limits, and just fly around, and get 50, 60 kills outside before I proceed with the mission. That, and I like the ARC 170, and Coruscant is my favorite planet to fly over.
Me too. The trade-off with Vader, of course, is his sprint is so good because he walks so slowly - it's impossible to get around any map aside from like the Tantive IV without sprinting with Vader.
True, the CIS fighters don't fight as well as the other three factions. Have you ever noticed that CIS Strike Bombers will sometimes completely stop in space? I think it's a glitch, but I'm not sure.
I suppose. I know Hoth is below you, as is Coruscant - but Mustafar is off to the side. I'll have to see about some of the others.
Do you ever play Capture the Flag? Or do you stick to real battles?
Yeah. Tell me how it goes.
I've won once as the Gungans - but there's something oddly satisfying about being a droid and slaughtering all of them.
Naturally. I like to play Knightfall for two reasons - Anakin Skywalker, with his cape, and the fact that it's Order 66. It's impossible to survive, too, I've only survived it two or three times. But that's probably my favorite battle.

Yeah, it is fun. The ARC-170s have very powerful lasers, but I like fighting against them in a bomber because it only takes two hits to take them out and they are so big. Lol.
Yeah. His walk is so cool: it's just like "I'm coming to kill you and there's nothing you can do to stop me." The way he sprints is weird, though: he like bends over and moves really fast without actually moving his body.
LOL. I've never noticed that. It would be funny to see. Also, above Mygeeto, have you noticed that the Communication Relay isn't protected by the shield on the Republic ship? I think it's a glitch, too.
I don't play it a lot, but if I do I play Coruscant; Maul is just broken at that game.
CTF on Geonosis is really weird: they change up all the vehicles and stuff and it is just odd to be on Geonosis (which also had much better map in BF I) without an AT-TE.
Yeah. I will.
I forgot about that Hunt game recently. I'll have to play it again.
Yeah, Anakin is cool with his cape. It's like in the Revenge of the Sith game, where you can play as Anakin with a cape and his red lightsaber, if both duelists are Anakin. That is just plain cool.

Yeah, they're probably too big. The TIE fighter is probably dominant for the multi-class fighters.
I know. The walk is cool, but it's counter-productive. He's just a strange character - too slow for actual play.
Lol. I see it all the time - but I aparrently spend more time in space than you do.
Yeah, you throw that saber down hallways, and everybody dies.
Hmm? Change the vehicles? What? And, I like the new map better - the new one's smaller, but this one is much more fun - the other map is too big for 32 men.
I know. I quite like that look - and in ROTS, I play the level in the Jedi Temple - with Anakin, in his cape, with blue lightsaber - a lot. I've gotten max HP for that level. There's something about him with his cape, and blue lightsaber - that is just such a cold, evil look.
|
|
|
Post by bountyhunter9 on Sept 23, 2009 13:48:26 GMT -5
Yeah, the TIE is probably the best one.
Yeah, his walk really hurts. All the heroes have their short-comings (Luke' attacks are slower, Vader has a slow walk, anyone without LS Throw isn't really good, etc.) except Darth Maul (he's the only one I can think of). Maul has very quick attacks that can kill troops over a wide area, and his saber throw is twice as deadly as any other Jedi's. How do you even throw a lightsaber like that?
I play space a bit, but really only on the Mygeeto map. The other maps I don't find as fun because they take too long (I like to play big 200 or 300 point games).
For CTF, I'm pretty sure the clones get two of the IFT-F or whatever tanks instead of an AT-TE.
I liked the older one better. There were a ton of vehicles, and everybody lost CPs a lot because your forces were so stretched out. Spawing as a jet trooper from one of the AT-TEs as it walked past the open hangar (those Geo fighter were awesome, btw) and flying in and capturing the CP was fun, and turned the tide of the battle if the CIS couldn't capture it quickly. Plus using a gunship to fly on top of the spire was fun, as was using a jet trooper to fly on top of the Techno Union ships. The new map is okay, but the main base for the Seps feels like a pirate outpost on a moon. No, not even a moon, more like an asteroid. I mean, one room, really?
Yeah I think I have full XP in all levels except for a few (the battle with Grievous and Dooku, and the first level with Obi-Wan, I think). It's a good game, and the multiplayer is good as well.
Also, I've reworded Sharrakor's Persistence a bit to be more like other WotC SAs, and added it to the Elite Trooper. How does it look?

I know. Anakin and Obi-Wan are the closest to perfect, and I don't mind Luke's slow attacks. Did you know that Luke's style changes from Pilot Luke to Luke in Black?
Oh, I do like to play 250 point games. That's always fun. That way it doesn't end.
Oh. That's dumb. But the IFT-X is the dominant tank, I'd say.
LOL. One room. That's hilarious. It was always fun to load up with three snipers, fly up on top of the spire, and order them out - and they'd stay up there, and maybe one would get a kill. I've never flown a trooper over on top of the Techno-Union cruisers - that's a good tip.
Yeah. I need more XP for Obi-Wan, my Anakin is just about done - everything's at lvl III, except for grappling.
Oh, come on. You made me type all this and now I have to go look at another ability?
