I've been debating with myself on whether or not to post this, but here it goes.
While this present website only has 18 members (whom may or may not read this this), it has some of the best stat creators; second only to wizards employees.
Looking at the modern sets, we created SA's and Force Powers close to the new ones of wizards. Which makes me proud to think they might have been inspired by this website and the previous database. Nonetheless, it showed to me that we can think like them.
So,why don't we fix their mistakes? ..and start fresh.
As we all know, many star wars miniatures are broken. Only a small percentage of units are playable in tournaments. Most huge miniatures are unplayable most on maps.
How miniatures do you own that you would like to use,but their stats and cost make victory difficult to imposible?
The Idea
We could create alternative star wars miniatures stats for the miniatures wizards has created.
How would this work?
This would require the feedback of many gamers and swm fans. Most gamers are disappointed in the disbalance between sets and cost differences. We could revolve the set around what they want. If created professional and well developed, the stats could be consider (by gamers) more accurate. We would be offering an alternative, 3rd party, non-bias stats for gamers.
But, it would also require alot of time ----and we would all have to get on the same page inorder for the sets to flow naturally.
Again, we would have to decide on stuff like
-should we go for stronger Commander Effects for the recreated stats?
-should we edit all of the miniatures? should we just edit the miniatures that are no longer playable? what do we define as playable?
-should we add "range" limitations to blasters like in other games?
-should we make the pieces more interesting?- what does the swm community want?...
-and so on....
What would do if the project has backing
I don't have near as much time as I used to when I first started the orginial database. But, I would post a couple days a week and follow up on the project.
I'll be back in a couple of days to read your responses.
I left the old site, because it got to the point where it had no purpose. The only thing that was left was personally enjoyment of being on the site.
I think this might have a chance. If sucessful, the outcome for the swm community could become much greater than the effect of the lost twenty and all other star wars miniature fan projects, combined.
