Hey team! Through BlooMilk, a couple members saw our databases and had some criticism. Sithborg, in particular, mentioned that some of the pieces were "flat out broken". While I'm not sure I would use those exact words, there are a huge number of pieces with unnecessary custom abilities and noggin-scratching stats.
I propose that we go through the entire database, one faction at a time, and "clean up" all these stats. Remove excess SA's, balance the pieces, in order to make our site as beneficial to the SWM community as possible. It's a monumental undertaking, I might have to wait till we finish NLT, (which isn't actually that far away...) but I think it could really have a huge positive impact on how gamers view our work (and the work of members past).
What do you say?

Seems like a good idea. Though, removing unnecessary custom abilities might be a bit difficult to do. Creating new abilities is a very important and fun part of the design process. Even WotC does this, so I'm not sure we want to eliminate too many custom abilities, unless they are part of what breaks the piece.

Some old pieces could use a tuning up, it's true. But the key is costing; we don't actually have to change any pieces at all, if we just recost them.

I think it's more than recosting. I'm sorry to say, but there are so many flat out worthless special abilities. I understand some of them are there for solid purposes, but a ton are not needed.

To a certain extent, and WotC has released a lot of abilities which are exact or close matches to some of ours. We'd need more members before we got started, though - it's a massive undertaking.

Fringe is the largest - why not get that done first? Get the worst out of the way early.

Not to show my true colors, but I'd be interested in helping out on the Old Rep, the Sith, maybe the Mandos, and also the KotOR-era Fringe pieces.
Not that I have a particular area of interest or anything...
