Wow, how things change over time!
Today, I was going through my bookmarked websites, when I stumbled across something familiar, a link called The Custom Star Wars Miniatures Database. Memories flooded my head, and for nostalgia's sake, a clicked on it. But to my surprise, nothing came up, just a "Page can not be found" message. Well, some research, and a conversation with a few old friends later, I found this website.
Wow. After looking around, I love what you guys have done with it. So congrats. It kinda like that old Bare Naked Ladies song, "The Old Apartment" for me. And major kudos to who ever saved the stat on the computer. To think that over 300 Fringe stats I worked on were lost.... I don't even play SWM anymore and I almost cried.
The only question is, what happened to the old site? Why the change to this snazzy new (and aesthetically pleasing I might add. [We never could come up with a background that did'nt look like nuts on the old site]) site.
If someone could fill in an old member on some of the details, much appreciated.
P.S. I can't tell you how ecstatic i was to see Gwek and Jm419 posting again. You guys are the originals, and you guys are the best.

Nihl? Is that you? Well, even if it isn't, I can let you know what happened. Around New Years Day, 2009, (I think it was 12-30-08), the old site just...disappeared. It was just completely gone. Strangely enough, we still don't really know what happened. Maybe there was some sort of time limit on that board, because it was really weird that it crashed right at the end of 2008. Yoda showed up here and told us that he didn't know what happened. Fuzzball went after Proboards, and asked them if they could reboot. No luck. The old site just seems to have disappeared, unfortunately. Gwek contacted me over on the WotC boards, and I redid the old boards as best as I could from memory. Proboards is free, so, while it was tedious to rebuild the site, it wasn't that big of a deal. We were all super unhappy about the stats disappearing, but one day, out of the blue, a member showed up, and told us that they saved all the stats shortly before the site crashed. While we lost roughly 100 stats that were newly finalized or in Stat Creation, we gained about 880 of the old stats. If you are Nihl, everything you finalized was saved. Posting levels are low right now, but I attribute that to the American economy, and how people don't have the money to dabble in miniatures. Most of the old members rejoined - Darthfuzzball, Roque Saber, Planeswalker459, Sharrakor, Pastordamon (under the username Maverick), and Gwek all found their way back. In theory, they're all still active, though only Sharrakor and I are left of the old guard. No one else has posted in months. If people were to return, the site would have a renaissance, but right now, I'm acting Grand Master (unfortunately), and a few new members have posted a bit - Bountyhunter9 has been a great asset to the site, and a new member, DarthChaos, shows promise. But the rest of the old guard are gone. I'm the only original moderator left. I think that pretty much covers it. Basically, we need more members, badly.

Well, I'm back too, so that makes 2 of us oldies. If that is Nihl, nice to hear from you again! As for the background, I made it for a forum that was hosting an attempt to redo the Lost Twenty. (which failed, but gave me time to experiment with backgrounds)

I'm sorry I'm not around more regularly. Started a new job and had a daughter this year. Takes up a little time.

Well, guys, it's good to have you back on board. Gwek, family comes first. We understand.
