I have to admit that I've been very busy at school and at my full time job, so I haven't done much with miniatures since the end of last year. Having looked at my custom sets recently, I see that I was really at the top of my game about a year ago, but since then, I've not done much with hobbies at all. Once the WotC forums changed format, I was done over there - so I've been out of the game since, oh, about KotOR.
So, I understand that the game shut down, etc. What exactly are these V-Sets? I get that they're Virtual Sets, but are they sets that are essentially recognized by all the SWM players? Who created them? Where did they come from? When were they made?
Thanks for the update, folks. It's good to be back.

The Guys at SWMGamers, the Big Time Players I suppose decided that one way to keep the game going was to develop a V-Set of cards that would be recognized as "Official" for game play. They've released one set www.swmgamers.com/page.php?35that can be downloaded and are working on several others. This in a way has actually stimulated Custom mini making over on Bloo so I guess its interesting So to answer your questions 1- Yes, "Official; You could even have bought a real set of cards. 2. The Customs/Players community at Bloo & SWMGamers. 3. Discussed to Death on both Boards; no I don't know the Inner Sanctum of who's who other than a fairly large group of recognizable names if you frequent those boards. 4. The 1st set came out last Xmas, the next is due I think soon and the others are in discussions still. Welcom Back Jm

I believe the core of the V-Set designers include Engineer, Bill, and Boris. There may be others. Their sets are 60 piece sets and the first two contain all 10 factions. SET #1: DESTINY OF THE FORCE (last December?) actually set out to do a lot of what I'm always trying to accomplish, by giving a lot of power to the lesser factions. On the up-side, the Old Rep, Sith, and Vong all got "game-changers" to help bring them up to speed. Downside? WotC left them in such shambles that even with the best of intentions, they're still behind. SET #2--RENEGADES & ROGUES--is set for release at GenCon, although about half of the pieces have already been spoiled. According to the designers, this set is also fairly heavily biased toward the minor factions (although the theme is "rogues," both pilots like Rogue Squadron and also rogues/those with questionable ethics/affiliations--the set is pretty heavy on Affinity, includes smugglers, assassins, etc). Also set to release at GenCon: 1) EPIC "mini-set": 12 pieces priced at 100+ (I think the cheapest is in the low 130s up to 150+). Each faction gets 1 representative, the Republic has 2 (Yoda and Mace), and there's a "3-faction piece" ("The Phantom Menace" is on the list, so I assume that's Sidious--Sep/Sith/Imperial?) 2) BATTLE OF THEED: A 10-piece set featuring, yes, pieces from the battle of Theed. It's 5 Republic and 5 Seps, although the Darth Maul piece (spoiled) has Sith Affinity (and there's a lot of discussion that he is actually a much better Sith piece than Sep piece). The designers have announced that they were working on at least two more V-Sets, to release in "early 2012" and GenCon 2012 (seems like they're doing one every 6 months or so). There will also be another "micro-set" like BATTLE OF THEED called CANTINA BRAWL. Not sure when that will release. Apparently, because of a print-run quirk, a run of 72 cards is more efficient than a run of 60, so for every 60-piece V-Set, the plan is to also do a 10-12 piece "micro-set."

Interesting. I'm a little surprised none of you guys were approached, but that was always the problem with this community - the inner circles. Ah well.
These look pretty interesting. Any links to the PDF for me, so I can see what they've done? How good are the pieces?

We're customizers. The folks running the show are the ones at (or near) the heart of the competitive play subculture.
I think they did a good job. I don't have a link, but I have an actual pdf. If you PM me your e-mail, I can send it to you.
Alternately, if you want to see the stats, head over to the the Bloomilk search page. The first set is in the engine. (To see the stats for the 32 pieces from the second set that have been spoiled, or some of the pieces from Battle of Theed, you'd need to go to the forums).

That 'Link" I put into my original answer should have taken you to the Destiny of the Force page that had the link to downloading your own pdf of the card set. Problems with the link?

Yeah - I'm on a Mac, and the file isn't working for me. I got to the page, but the download is incompatible. Thanks, though, buddy. Gwek - do you have the actual PDF? If we can attach it to an email, then my comp should be able to convert it over. Usually, PDFs are fine - but that particular link isn't working for me.
